Camber Calculation
The Camber can be Calculated by two methods:-
1. By Auto Level Method
2. By Straight edge Method
1. Auto Level Method:-
Formula of Calculation of Camber
= Value of N/half width of Carriageway X 100
1. First of all we have to setup our instrument and level it.
2. Now we have to take readings from center of road and both the corner of road.
3. Assume reading from point A is 1.325 and point B is 1.335.
4. After we have to take the reading from center 1.255.
5. Sum the value A and B and take average of these value that is = 1.325 + 1.335 = 2.660 and average of these is 1.330.
6. According to formula we have to find the value of N. Which is taken as subtract the reading of center point from average value which is come out = - 0.075.
7. Put the reading o the formula = -0.075/3.5x100
we take 3.5 because we assume carriageway width is 7 meter.
8. After Simplify we get -2.14% the Camber in this is -2.14%.
Note : Always remember one thing the camber or slope is in negative.
2. By Straight Edge Method:
Formula will we same for all two methods = Value of N/half width of Carriageway X 100
we have to put a straight rod on road from center to edge of road it should be straight not buckling
note the difference between ground from road assume we get 0.075mm. and we have carriageway width that is 7 meter.
the difference of ground from road is taken as value of N.
Put all these value according to formula
= 0.075/3.5x100
after calculation we get the 2.14% .
