Chainage = it is the marking on road. Here 0+10  in this 0 is Kilometer 10 is Meter.

offset =it is the distance from chainage in transverse direction

B.S = Back Sight   it is the first staff reading after setting the instrument

I.S = Intermediate Sight   it is the reading after taking after Back sight

F.S = Fore Sight it is the last staff reading before changing the instrument

H.I = Height of Instrument it is the height of instrument from MSL (mean sea                  level)

A.R.L = Achieved Road Level or Actual Road Level 

D.R.L = Design Road Level it is the top level of road
