Concrete

1. Introduction of Concrete

What is Concrete?.

Concrete is a composite building material formed from combining Cement, Sand With Aggregate with water is Known as Concrete.

Uses Of Concrete?

It is used to make pavements, Building Structures, foundations, roads, overpasses, parking structures, brick/block walls etc.

The materials used to make concrete is known as ingredient of concrete.

The mixture of cement and water is known as cement paste.

The mixture of cement , sand and water is called mortar.

Types of concrete:-

There are few basic type of concrete are summarized there.

1. Cement concrete :- It is the basic type of concrete prepared by mixing cement, sand, coarse aggregates and water.

2. Lime Concrete :- It is the concrete prepared by mixing hydraulic lime, fine aggregates, course aggregates and water. This is type of concrete used for interior works as it has less strength and is cheaper then normal concrete.

3. Reinforced Cement Concrete (R.C.C) : It is the type of concrete in which steel bars are provided within the concrete mass. The steel bars provided are called as reinforcement as it reinforcement improve the tensile strength of concrete.

4. Prestressed Cement Concrete (P.C.C) : A concrete in which an initial compressive stress is artificially introduce to neutialize the large tensile stress due to loading is called prestressed cement concrete.
